Aston Villa follows Chelsea’s transfer strategy after a “clever” decision is made public.

Dan Bardell has commended Aston Villa for turning a profit on the sales of academy players, with Lamare Bogarde being the most recent player to be connected to a departure.

According to a source from Birmingham Live (June 22), Nottingham Forest is apparently interested in the Dutchman this summer and the Tricky Trees are getting ready to make a bid.

This comes after Tim Iroegbunam was sold by the Villans to Everton in a trade that allayed worries about the team’s sustainability and profit accounting.

Journalist Bardell from Sky Sports and talkSPORT has commended Villa for their efforts throughout the transfer window in profitably selling academy goods, comparing them to Chelsea’s model.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “People are looking at this as being a bad thing but I think it is great.

It is what Chelsea have done for years in terms of signing cheap academy players, developing them, gaining them a reputation at a big club and selling them. It’s like flipping houses so I see it as a positive and clever thing.

Obviously, you want these players to come in and get into the first team but Villa have accelerated so much as a club that they aren’t going to play for the first team.

Getting a good fee and making a profit on them is an excellent business from Villa and I commend them for that.

Looking at Iroegbunam first and now potentially with Bogarde, they were brought in for so cheap and were sold for great profits. It’s smart and the way a forward-thinking and modern club works.

Aston Villa exit planned for Lamare Bogarde

After making just one appearance for the Villans since joining the academy, Bogarde, 20, appears ready to leave Villa Park for Nottingham Forest.

When he made this display against Liverpool in the FA Cup, Covid’s struggles meant that he was playing alongside his younger teammates.

This game saw the debuts of numerous young players who have since left the club, in addition to Louie Barry’s goal.

Bogarde had two distinct loan stints with Bristol Rovers; the second one ended poorly with Joey Barton’s firing. Although he was called back in January, Bogarde did not play for Villa’s first team after his return.

It could be wise to sell him this summer because Unai Emery is unlikely to use him in the starting lineup.

If the Villans can secure a good profit for the Dutchman, that will go towards dealing with PSR and benefit them in the long term.
