Jacob Ramsey transfer truth as Johan Lange leads Tottenham pursuit of Aston Villa star

Tottenham is showing interest in the Aston Villa midfield player this summer.

This summer, Jacob Ramsey is attracting interest from Tottenham, and Johan Lange is unlikely to be put off by Aston Villa’s unwillingness to let go of the midfield player.

Tottenham’s interest in Ramsey is thought to be spearheaded by Villa’s former sporting director, as was initially reported back in January. The 23-year-old is comfortable at his boyhood club and has three years left on his deal.

Due to their stance on Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), Villa had to determine whether to lose a valuable player before June 30 of this summer. As a result, they sold Douglas Luiz to Juventus for €50 million. Given the pressure imposed by PSR, Monchi planned for the Brazilian’s departure eighteen months in advance, with forward planning becoming a significant portion of the team’s recruitment approach. Prior to losing Luiz, it enabled Villa to agree to a £5 million deal to capture Ross Barkley this summer and bring in Youri Tielemans on a free transfer last year.

Morgan Rogers was acquired by Villa in January for a meager £8 million, and under Unai Emery, he has already shown remarkable development. Despite not knowing he would play so often at this point in his Villa career, he ended up making 11 Premier League matches the previous season as a result of Ramsey’s injury issues.

With an injury sustained in the 3-2 victory against Luton Town, Ramsey was sidelined for the remainder of the campaign after making just eight league starts the previous year. Before coming off for Rogers at Kenilworth Road, he was beginning to regain his form and confidence.

But now that Villa’s PSR problems have subsided, the club would only be enticed to sell if Ramsey received a sizable bid. Every player has a price, of course, but despite his injury issues from the previous season, Ramsey is still an essential member of Emery’s team.

According to our sister publication football.london, he might yet be lured away from his local team by a price of about £50 million.

Given that he stated in January of last year that “Jacob Ramsey is a very important player,” Villa manager Emery appears to be eager to retain the young midfielder. Here at the academy, he was raised. He is clearly improving and making progress. I want him to stay with us here.

“Teams may be considering signing him because he has a lot of potential with Aston Villa and England, hands down.”
