Everton “likes” Wilfried Gnonto and may now finalise a “£30 million” deal with Leeds. – Wyness

Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton, has stated that Leeds United will have to take offers of “£30-35 million” this summer for Wilfried Gnonto.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that he and the 20-year-old “like” each other.

On Monday, June 24, Football Insider disclosed that Everton is now focusing on making a fresh bid for Gnonto, a star for Leeds.

The Italy international was coveted by the Toffees last summer (2023), and they have been keeping an eye on him at Elland Road.

Leeds is currently anticipated to offload a number of important players after their 2023–24 campaign failed to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

According to Wyness, Leeds might have to take the “£30–35m” Gnonto offer.

Wyness claimed the Whites “need to get an auction going” for Gnonto to maximise his value.

According to what he told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast, “there has been talk of Gnonto coming to Everton; from what I understand, the club does like him.”

Leeds faces challenges because they must sell.

“An auction needs to start, and it doesn’t seem like it’s happening, but we never know who clubs are bidding on him behind closed doors.

“I estimate his worth to be between £30-35 million.

Because of their capacity to fetch a better price, the market is down.

“He’s talented and could succeed in the Premier League, but clubs are aware that Leeds must let him go.”

“For the club, this will be a concerning window.
