‘Everton Like Him’ – Keith Wyness: Leeds could be forced to accept ‘£30m’ bid

Keith Wyness, former Everton manager, has predicted that Leeds United may be obliged to accept offers of “£30-35 million” for Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now operates a football consultancy that advises elite clubs, claimed his former club “like” the 20-year-old.

According to Football Insider, Everton are now considering a second move for Leeds sensation Gnonto. The Toffees were interested in signing the Italy international last summer (2023) and have continued to track his progress at Elland Road.

Leeds failed to achieve promotion back to the Premier League in the 2023-24 campaign and are now expected to sell multiple key players.

Leeds could be forced to accept ‘£30-35m’ Gnonto offer, says Wyness

Wyness argued that the Whites “need to get an auction going” to maximise Gnonto’s value.

He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “There’s been discussion about Gnonto coming to Everton; the club likes him, from what I’ve heard. “It’s difficult for Leeds because they need to sell.”

“They need to start an auction, which doesn’t appear to be occurring – but we never know which clubs are bidding for him behind the scenes. “I believe he is worth roughly £30-35 million. “The market is depressed because they may demand a larger price.

“He’s a talent who may do well in the Premier League, but clubs understand that Leeds must sell. “This is going to be a worrying window for the club.”
