As the competition draws to a close, a Leeds United player experiences heartbreak.

For a Leeds United player, heartbreak has coincided with intense drama.

Rasmus Kristensen, a defender for Leeds United, has exited the Euros. His Denmark team was eliminated in a highly dramatic match against Germany on Saturday night in Dortmund.

After spending the previous season on loan at Roma, Kristensen was left off the starting lineup for his team’s knockout match against Germany, which was postponed due to lightning towards the conclusion of the first half.

Play resumed, and the first half ended in a goalless draw. Joachim Andersen, a defender for Crystal Palace, thought to have given Denmark the lead early in the second half, but his attempt was flagged offside.

Just three minutes after VAR intervened for an Andersen handball, Germany was given a penalty, dealing a brutal double blow to the Danes. After 53 minutes, Kai Havertz converted a penalty kick, and 15 minutes later, Jamal Musiala produced a stunning strike to double Germany’s lead.

For the fourth consecutive game, Kristensen was kept off the field and did not see any play on the field as the right back withdrew from the Euros.
