Tottenham set to agree deal for ‘£100m-valued’ Son

Former Everton manager Keith Wyness has suggested that Tottenham will offer Heung-min Son a new two-year contract with higher remuneration.

On Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now operates a football consultancy advising elite teams, stated that the 31-year-old forward is still worth £100 million despite his age.

Son’s contract extends until 2025, and Tottenham has the option to extend it by another 12 months, but no decision has been made public.

The Tottenham captain, who has previously been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia and Turkey, scored 17 Premier League goals last season.

Tottenham have contacted Lille striker Jonathan David’s representatives to improve their attacking options, according to Football Insider on Monday (24 June).

Tottenham star Son still worth ‘£100m’, says Wyness

Wyness stated on Football Insider’s Insider Track programme that Tottenham has a challenging situation.

“I believe they will increase his salaries, but not significantly.

“Despite a disappointing season, I believe he is still worth over £100 million.

“Hopefully, he will return refreshed and with a better understanding of what Ange Postecoglou expects from him, and Ange will be given the resources to further develop the squad and formation around him.

“The Spurs want to be free-scoring, that’s the word from the manager, and Son is essential to that.

“I think Tottenham will want to tie him down to another two-year contract.”
