Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United set out to spoil Aston Villa transfer plan

There are two Premier League opponents that could derail Aston Villa’s long-term transfer strategy.

Jaden Philogene, a winger for Hull City, is apparently up for grabs this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United among the contenders.

In 32 Championship games, the former Aston Villa star scored 12 goals and provided six assists, enjoying an incredible 2023–24 campaign. Prior to that, while on loan at Cardiff City, Philogene scored four goals and provided one assist in 37 games in the English second division.

Though several other teams are keeping an eye on Philogene, Barcelona has been linked to him recently.According to Football Insider, West Ham and Hull are reportedly in preliminary talks, and Tottenham is also showing a “concrete” interest.

Aston Villa’s Philogene plan fails

If any of the clubs mentioned do indeed complete the signing of Philogene this summer, it would foil one of Villa’s potential plans. There was a £15 million buy-back clause inserted into the 22-year-old’s sale when he left for £5 million last summer, but it can only be activated when Hull are in the same division.
