According to reports, Chelsea and Tottenham are in competition to recruit Leeds prodigy Archie Grey this summer.
Although the Premier League is full of fans for the adaptable England Under-21 midfielder, a cheap signing is not in the cards.
Grey had an incredible breakout season the previous season at Leeds. 52 appearances in all competitions, including all three of the team’s play-off championship games, were made by him.
After gaining head coach Daniel Farke’s trust, the 18-year-old played right-back for the most of the campaign. This is true even though central midfield is where he is most comfortable playing. It’s well known that elite teams respect the youthful player’s adaptability.
The Daily Telegraph claims that Chelsea is considering Grey.This summer, Premier League rivals Spurs have also been linked to the player, and Liverpool is believed to have monitored him during the season.
The story states that Leeds would want an outrageous £30 million fee for their academy graduate, Grey, even though Chelsea has not yet made an official contact. After missing their chance to get promoted back to the Premier League, the Whites now have financial difficulties to deal with.
