Head coach of the Steelers Mike Tomlin is one of the NFL’s top five coaches.

The NFL’s longest-serving head coach is still regarded as one of the greatest in the business.

Following the departure of Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers is currently the NFL’s longest-serving head coach.

With just Chuck Knoll having held the position for the longer period of time, Tomlin is set to begin his 18th season as the Steelers’ head coach.

PFF listed the top 10 NFL head coaches ahead of the 2024 season, placing Tomlin in fifth place while drawing attention to the big issue.

PFF analyst Gordon McGuinness stated, “It’s not great that the Steelers haven’t won a playoff game in T.J. Watt’s career, especially considering that he will be entering his eighth NFL season in 2024.” Nevertheless, considering Tomlin’s performance at quarterback during the previous five seasons, just making it to the postseason is a significant achievement. In 2023, no quarterback for the Steelers received a PFF passing grade higher than 70.0. Kenny Pickett scored 68.8, the highest of the group. The arrival of Justin Fields and Russell Wilson this summer presents a significant chance for the Steelers to eventually have an impact in the postseason once more.

Earlier this month, Tomlin inked a three-year contract deal. His 173 victories are just 20 fewer than Knoll’s 193 to rank second in team history.
