Manchester City is moving forward with plans to expand the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand by £300 million, increasing its capacity to nearly 60,000 seats.

The Premier League winners plan to add a layer to their North Stand, increasing the stadium’s capacity to more over 60,000 people. In addition to an additional level and around 7,000 seats, City is also constructing a covered fan park, hotel, sky bar, and roof walk behind the stand.
Villa Park’s capacity will eventually be increased to 60,000, according to proposals announced by Christian Puslow, the previous CEO of Villa, in the summer of 2022. First, in order to increase the stadium’s capacity to 50,000 in time for Euro 2028, Villa intended to construct a brand-new North Stand.
Additionally, it would have made it possible for a larger percentage of the tens of thousands of fans who are now on the waiting list to purchase a season ticket. But that would have meant Villa would only have about 36,000 fans in attendance for two seasons without a North Stand.
Then, after Purslow left and Chris Heck took over as the team’s president of football operations, the plans were abandoned.
Heck stated, “I think it would be a bad idea to tear down one of our stands and play like we are for two years,” before revealing his new ideas. “From now on, everything should revolve around all of the fans.”

Heck is dedicated to managing Villa Park’s renovation, which has already begun this summer, therefore there are no intentions to remove him from the position. He stated that although the Warehouse project may take a little longer to complete, the superstore behind the North Stand parking lot will be refurbished in time for the upcoming campaign.
Heck continued, saying, “We are changing the entire setup to allow the fans to see the players come off the bus before every single match. This will be a new area, built right behind the players’ entrance.”
They will have food and drinks available in addition to improved sightlines, large-screen TV viewing, and other amenities. It will be top-notch from start to finish.

Regarding the North Stand, Villa plans to add 1,200 seats over the course of the next two summers as part of a larger Villa Park project. The first phase of Purslow’s rehabilitation project was shelved last year, with an estimated £100 million in costs to the club.

Construction-related video channel The B1M highlighted the workshop where a scale model of the stadium was created and gave a brief overview of the difficulties that would arise during construction, specifically with regard to the new North Stand roof’s shape and design.
