Arsenal ready to outbid Tottenham to sign the ‘standout’ player from Euro 2024 so far

If Arsenal manages to recruit one of their top targets and beat off local rivals Tottenham Hotspur for his signature, their summer transfer window may receive a significant boost.

The power dynamic between the north London clubs has slightly shifted in the past few years as a result of Tottenham’s repeated seasons of finishing above Arsenal.

Nevertheless, after challenging Manchester City for the Premier League crown in the previous two seasons, Michael Arteta’s team has emerged as the dominant power in north London once again.

Ultimately, the Gunners’ efforts were in vain, and this gives Edu Gaspar opportunity to strengthen the Arsenal team for the next season.

And one player in particular may be heading to north London this summer, as both Arsenal and Spurs are considering a trade.

Arsenal prepared to outbid rivals for a Euro 2024 player

The fact that not much business gets done during Euro 2024 has given clubs a challenge to overcome this summer.

But it has also given clubs a chance to examine some of the players more closely who they might be thinking about moving for in the upcoming weeks.

And there have undoubtedly been a few notable performers, such as Nico Williams of Spain, who has drawn interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

But there is another player who the two north London sides could be ready to battle it out for. According to TuttoJuve, Arsenal and Tottenham are both showing a real interest in the Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori. Juventus are another side who are keen on the Italy international, but they are finding themselves hoping the defender chooses to remain in his homeland this summer. This is because the two London sides are in a much better financial position to make their move for the 22-year-old.

The remarks made by Micah Richards on Riccardo Calafiori

Following an outstanding Serie A season with Bologna, Calafiori was called up to the Italy national team for Euro 2024.

Even if Luciano Spalletti’s team didn’t advance from Group B with much conviction, Calafiori continued to be a standout player who attracted a lot of attention.

Micah Richards, in an interview with The Rest is Football podcast, waxed poetic about the 22-year-old defender.

“Calafiori is incredible! Everyone is chatting about him. Every major club is connected to him. I believe Arsenal is interested in him, and he plays football for Bologna,” he remarked.

“I’ve heard that Man City is considering it. Excellent with the ball, capable of scoring goals and defending. And while I’ve been focusing on Bastoni during the games, Calafiori has also shown great skill.
