Beginning his career at Elland Road as a kid, Taylor worked his way up through the ranks of the club’s academy to become a member of the first squad. At the age of seventeen, he made his senior debut for the team in 2011. He then went on to gain important experience while on loan at Fleetwood Town, Bradford City, York City, and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Under Neil Redfearn’s direction, the left-back settled into a routine at Elland Road and, over the course of the following two seasons, became as a fan favourite, amassing 104 appearances and three goals for the team. That was before to his chaotic move to Burnley.

“I believe I was proven correct in the way things have turned out for me, so I don’t regret joining for Burnley. I didn’t know whether I’d get the chance to play in the Premier League again, so I made the decision based more on logic than emotion.

“I still live over that way and I get plenty of stick when I’m out in town, but I am still a Leeds fan and I’d love to go back there next season to play them in the Premier League, I really would.”

Burnley, who are now viewed as Leeds’ primary rival for the Championship title this season, is devastated by the deal.
