After having a heart attack, a former midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United is thinking about retiring.

Nabil Bentaleb made 81 appearances for both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United combined.

Nabil Bentaleb, a former loanee of Newcastle United, is considering retirement as he heals from a heart arrest.

A heart attack nearly happened to the midfield player ten days ago while playing a friendly five-a-side match. Bentaleb, who currently plays for Lille, was spared death by the prompt thinking of others nearby who administered CPR.

After being revived with the aid of a defibrillator, the 29-year-old had a successful pacemaker implantation the next day. The discovery of an asymptomatic inflammation of the myocardium, a muscle in the heart, put his transfer to Lille in peril last summer.

Bentaleb made 36 appearances for Les Dogues last season across all competitions once the trade was finalized. After the experience that changed her life, an official Lille statement encouraged seclusion and said that retiring was now an option.

The notification stated, “Nabil Bentaleb became ill on Tuesday night and was taken into care and sent to the University Hospital in Lille to receive treatment.” “Everyone is urged to show respect for the player’s privacy.”

Bentaleb joined Newcastle on loan in January 2020 and made 15 appearances for the club. To allay fears of relegation, Steve Bruce brought in the Algerian international in addition to Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro.

Only a few weeks after his tenure at St. James’ Park, the Covid-19 outbreak struck. Due to coronavirus, Bentaleb played for Newcastle 15 times, the most of which were behind closed doors.

Having played 52 international matches for Algeria, he is also a seasoned player. On the other hand, Lille is his birthplace, and he joined his childhood club there before returning.
