£50m Premier League ace has just rejected Newcastle because of Champions League football

Michael Olise, a star player for Crystal Palace, was reportedly wanted by several teams this summer for £50 million, but he ultimately decided to sign with Bayern Munich.

At one point, Olise’s agent was granted permission to speak with Newcastle, and Palace came to terms that they would have to let go of their star player this summer as the Frenchman was getting closer to finalising his transfer to Bayern.

At one point, Chelsea was in the running as well, but like Newcastle, it appears Olise turned them down because the 22-year-old wanted to play for Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Given that Olise is a gifted player and since Newcastle lost out in the competition’s group stage the previous season, it makes reasonable that the team wants to play at the highest level in Europe.

If Newcastle had been able to pull it off, Olise would have been a fantastic signing, but one imagines they’ll now explore elsewhere for alternatives.

After acquiring Olise, Bayern could release certain players. According to Fabricio Romano, Kingsley Coman is the most likely attacking option to be sold, provided the price is appropriate. The France international is also willing to leave the Allianz Arena.
