Crystal Palace are now weighing up a move for a forward compared to Franck Ribery as the hunt to replace Michael Olise begins.

After Bayern Munich reached an agreement to sign our No. 7, Dougie Freedman has already started negotiations to sign Club Brugge’s No. 32, Antonio Nusa, activating his £55 million release clause.

But now, Crystal Palace has added another forward to the mix.

Crystal Palace shortlist Wilfried Gnonto

HITC Football has been informed by transfer specialist Graeme Bailey that Wilfried Gnonto, the 29th player from Leeds United, is being considered by Crystal Palace to replace Michael Olise.

The Italy international became well-known in the Premier League during the 2022–2023 season, so much so that Gary Neville referred to him as a “Manchester City winger” as he stormed England.

But, Gnonto was unable to keep Leeds United from being relegated that season and was also unable to assist the Whites in returning to the Premier League the following season, thus it now appears that a sale is imminent.

Bailey predicts that Daniel Farke’s team would want for £30 million for the Italian, who has an Elland Road deal that expires in July 2027.

Additionally, according to HITC Football, Sunderland No. 20 Jack Clarke is another contender.

Dougie Freedman could sign Franck Ribery 2.0

You might find it interesting to learn that Gnonto has been likened to France and Bayern Munich legend Ribery, for those of you who don’t know much about him.

The player who drew the comparison was Goal, a 20-year-old with lightning-fast dribbling abilities and a direct running style against opponents.

From our vantage point, Gnonto appears to be a standard Crystal Palace player, someone who is similar to players like Yannick Bolasie and his namesake Wilfried Zaha—a fearless attacker who electrifies the crowd.

The Verbania native is reportedly rumoured to be paid £20,000 per week at Elland Road; if James Tomkins, Jairo Riedewald, and Olise were taken off the payroll, Crystal Palace could probably afford to quadruple that amount in an effort to recruit him.
