Official: Milan confirm name and coach of their second team

Milan has officially announced that Daniele Bonera, an ex-Rossoneri defender, will serve as the team’s coach. The team will be known as Milan Futuro.

Milan has announced the formation of a second team that will play in Serie C, the third tier of Italy, in 2024–2025.
“AC Milan announces that it has formally received a good response to the application for registration for the Serie C Now Championship of the young, gifted team named “MILAN FUTURO,” in accordance with the choices reached by the Federal Council of the FIGC. In a statement, the Rossoneri noted, “The acceptance of the registration application has thus completed the roster of 60 teams that will participate in the Championship managed by Lega Pro in the 24/25 season.”

“The sports project of Milan Futuro, the latest step on a virtuous path involving the entire youth sector up to the First Team, was created with the main objective of enhancing the talent of young players who have grown up in the Rossoneri Youth Sector, who have already distinguished themselves in recent seasons in their respective leagues, in the Youth League, with their National Youth Teams and completing their physical-athletic maturation process. Furthermore, it will allow the players to compete in professional football for their own Club.

“Daniele Bonera, who led the Rossoneri to 201 victories in nine seasons, will lead Milan Futuro as head coach. He started working as a technical assistant for the first team of AC Milan in 2019. Following his attendance at the Coverciano course, he was awarded the UEFA PRO qualification for 2020.

In order to train in Milanello in close coordination with Paulo Fonseca’s team, the team will come together on July 8 and function as a single unit. The first official matches are set for August 11 and 18, which are the Serie C Italian Cup’s first and second preliminary rounds. The tournament is set to begin on August 25.

“Tomorrow, Friday, 28 June, the team will also know the group in which they will compete in the Championship and what teams they will face.”

Milan joined the U23 team of Atalanta and Juventus, who are now competing in the Italian third division.

In 2018, Juventus became the first team in Serie A to introduce a second team project. At first, it was

formerly known as Juventus U23, is now known as Juventus NextGen.

One important step in the development of new Italian talent is the creation of second teams.

The Primavera League and Serie A are too different in terms of skill, experience, and physicality, according to an increasing number of coaches and directors.

As the Rossoneri have stated, Milan will find out who their opponents will be for the upcoming campaign tomorrow, Friday, June 28.
