Moussa Niakhaté set for Lyon medical as talks with Nottingham Forest advance

Foot Mercato reports that Olympic Lyonnais are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhaté (28).

Lyon are trying to bolster their defence this summer in preparation for their UEFA Europa League campaign. According to Sky Sports News, Les Gones is considering Everton’s Ben Godfrey, with reports indicating a £10 million deal.

However, a new target has emerged: Niakhaté. The Senegalese international appeared 24 times for Nottingham Forest last season and was an important member of their backline; but, according to FFP regulations, the Premier League club must make some sales this summer. Niakhaté might then depart the club.

Lyon have been in negotiations for several days and are making good progress, with the centre-back perhaps joining on Friday. Niakhaté, who formerly played for FC Metz, could be set to return to Ligue 1.
