Man United & Everton Exclusive: Van Nistelrooy’s shock plan to terminate Branthwaite deal revealed

According to Football Insider, Manchester United veteran Ruud van Nistelrooy considered loaning Jarrad Branthwaite back to Everton during his time at PSV Eindhoven.

Van Nistelrooy managed the in-demand defender during his season-long loan to the Dutch team in 2022-23.

However, sources have told Football Insider that Van Nistelrooy was delighted to send him back to Goodison Park in January 2023, midway through the year, as Branthwaite wasn’t playing much under him during the first half of that season.

The then-loanee started only three Dutch Eredivisie games before the winter break, unable to make an impression in Holland.

The England international then altered his career in the second part of the season, making numerous starts for PSV after the league resumed.

During that season, the centre-back made 21 league starts and 37 games across all competitions.

He maintained that success when he returned to Everton last summer, earning a regular starting berth under Sean Dyche last season.

Everton now values him at about £80 million and has discussed a mega-money deal to United.

Manchester United could reunite Van Nistelrooy and Branthwaite

If things go according to plan for the Premier League giants this summer, Van Nistelrooy and Branthwaite may rejoin, this time at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy is in negotiations with Manchester United about returning to the club and joining Erik Ten Haag’s coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Branthwaite is one of the club’s main summer targets, despite an offer for the Everton player being rejected after terms were agreed upon.

United will face heavy competition to sign the 21-year-old, who is in high demand this summer with several Premier League clubs interested in signing him.

According to Keith Wyness, Chelsea is one team that could try to hijack the proposal, but Manchester United is anticipated to make a new offer.
