Leon Balogun Reviewed  What we must do to beat Celtic to title next season

According to Soccernet.ng, Leon Aderemi Balogun, a central defender for the Super Eagles and Rangers, has outlined the steps that Rangers need to take to challenge Celtic’s dominance in the SPFL.

After joining the Gers on a free transfer from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of last year, the 35-year-old found it difficult to fit in. Most of his time was spent on the sidelines, but at the end of the season, he had a stellar performance that earned him a new contract that kept him with the team for an additional year.

Rangers was headed for a domestic double, but a loss of steam allowed Celtic to win both trophies, leaving both players and supporters bitterly disappointed.

Now that he’s an experienced member of the squad, Balogun said that if the side is going to have any chance against Celtic next season, they need to improve at managing pressure.

That’s arguably the most important aspect to consider. We did give them a good race at the end; it was a race for the title, and both teams, in my opinion, weren’t playing at their best all season, which is probably why the finish was so close.

However, they still had the advantage over us, so that’s what we particularly need to pay attention to. Whether it’s pressure, mindset, or confidence, we need to make sure we work this out of our system before the season starts. According to statements made public by Football Scotland, the former Mainz 05 defender stated, “The earlier the better and then off to a good start.”

Rangers lost all five of their Old Firm derby matches against Celtic in the just finished season, including a crucial one in the Scottish Cup final. This is not a good record for a team that hopes to win championships.

“You have to defeat your opponent if you want to win. There was a slip in our sprint against each other. We need to make sure it doesn’t happen again this season,” the former defender for Brighton & Hove Albion continued.

In 2022, Balogun made his Super Eagles debut against Sao Tome and Principe in an AFCON qualification.
