Di Marzio claims Int’L striker hellbent on joining Everton after agreement reached

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Newcastle United striker Yankuba Minteh is determined to join Everton.

In recent weeks, the Toffees expressed interest in signing the six-times capped Gambian international, but they were unable to reach an agreement with the Magpies.

Lyon has made a stronger offer, believed to be around £33.8 million, and Newcastle wants Minteh to go to France before the end of the month. It will assist them in reducing their financial load while remaining within the PSR guidelines.

However, Di Marzio adds that Minteh “has not changed his mind” about joining Everton after reaching a personal deal with the club.

Everton is close to acquiring Marseille attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye, who is presently undergoing a medical in Merseyside. He will join Goodison Park on a five-year contract.

If Minteh refuses to join Lyon, Newcastle might be put under enormous strain, given they need to raise roughly £25 million in player sales this week.

Matt Hughes stated on June 26 that the player wants to stay in the Premier League after impressing on loan at Feyenoord last season.

The Toffees have been particularly active in the summer transfer season, having already signed two players. Ndiaye is expected to become their third summer signing, unless there is a big issue with his physical.

While Everton likes the lively forward, it remains unclear whether they have the money to sign him. Furthermore, they will be unable to match Lyon’s current offer.

In such a case, Newcastle will have to convince the player that a move to Lyon is the best option for all parties involved, or they will have to renegotiate a contract with Everton.

The Magpies have expressed interest in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Toffees are unwilling to trade him for anything less than £40 million.
