Club submits bid to hijack Everton agreement for transfer before end of this week

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Olympique Lyonnais has made an offer of £33.8 million for Everton target Yankuba Minteh.

On June 26, an Italian journalist revealed via X that the 19-year-old Newcastle United forward had reached an agreement with Everton.

Eddie Howe’s team needs to generate sales by June 30.

Everton has declined to accept Newcastle United’s asking price for Minteh, according to Football Transfers (25 June).

Everton unlikely to sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United

Minteh would be an excellent addition to Goodison Park.

During his season-long loan at Feyenoord last year, the forward scored 11 goals and assisted five times in all competitions.

Although he looks to have agreed on personal terms with the Toffees, it is unsurprising that the club refused to match Newcastle’s demands.

If Lyon has bid £33.8 million for the player, Everton simply cannot afford it.

Despite Dan Friedkin’s approaching acquisition of the club, there are still numerous financial concerns that hang over Goodison Park like a gloomy cloud.

Spending that much money for a 19-year-old is not advisable, and the Toffees may be obliged to concede defeat to Lyon on this occasion.

Iliman Ndiaye is apparently on his way to join the club (Fabrizio Romano, 26 June), perhaps limiting their ability to sign Minteh.
