Chelsea have £50m transfer trick to quickly complete Murillo move and replace Thiago Silva

Given that Nottingham Forest’s top defender Murillo is valued at £50 million, Chelsea will need to move quickly to get him.

If Chelsea wants to capture highly-rated center-back Murillo, they could have to make offers to Nottingham Forest. According to Football.london, the Blues have expressed interest in the Forest centre-back.

Murillo, 21, signed a five-year contract to go from Corinthians to Forest last summer for about £15 million. After just three games, he was in the Forest starting lineup and played in every Premier League match thereafter.

Before the season ended, there was rising interest in the physically gifted center-back, who was one of their best performances. There is increasing pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo to sell one of his best players in order to earn money because of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations (PSR).

now the season concluded, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White have both been projected for big-money departures, but those rumors have now subsided. One player that Forest could be inclined to trade this summer is Murillo, but they are asking a steep price.

Football.london is aware that Chelsea has contacted Forest to explore a possible trade for Murillo; however, the City Ground team is purportedly asking for £50 million in exchange for its star player. It is said that the Blues promptly notified their league rivals that they would not match their valuation, which might suggest that players would be included in their offer.

This summer, Enzo Maresca and the Chelsea management are eager to bring in a new center back and striker. PSR limitations certainly limit their ability to spend as much money as they would want, so player-plus-cash arrangements may be the best option going ahead.

Here, football.london takes a look at four players who could be included in a deal to bring Murillo to Stamford Bridge.

Armando Broja

Arguably the most obvious candidate for Chelsea to consider is striker Armando Broja. football.london understands that the Blues are aiming to sell the striker on a permanent basis this summer, with him valued at £35m.

Having crashed out of Euro 2024 with Albania, a decision over his future will be pushed in the next month. Despite there being interest, offering Forest his services as part of their deal for Murillo could drastically drop the £50m valuation of the centre-back.

Trevoh Chalobah

Academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah has been on the transfer list for some time. Despite coming back into the Chelsea team under Mauricio Pochettino, the centre-back is incredibly likely to depart should Murillo sign.

Chalobah is already behind Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill in the pecking order and we are yet to learn whether he will be in Maresca’s plans. Valued at just £10.9m, the 24-year-old could be the perfect option to offer to Forest to replace Murillo.

Malang Sarr

Another centre-back option that Chelsea could look to offload to Forest is Malang Sarr. The 25-year-old has never got his Blues career going after signing from Nice four years ago. After loan spells with Porto and Monaco, the Frenchman isn’t expected to be anywhere near Maresca’s team.

A forgotten man at Stamford Bridge, the need for all parties to come to a resolution over his future is vital this summer and offering him to Forest to revive his career is the best for all.

Cesare Casadei

On this list, Cesare Casadei is an unexpected name that could entice Forest. The Italian midfielder, who is highly regarded at Chelsea, has not yet made an impression, therefore it is unclear where he will end up at the team. Although he was only used off the bench, the club called him back in January after he had been on loan at Leicester City under Maresca.

The possibility of making a permanent transfer to the Premier League would be intriguing to him, albeit it is unclear if he would be amenable to it. A player with Casadei’s potential implies that Forest might be able to get a significant return on investment for him down the road.
