Aston Villa will acquire a “exceptional” player today, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Aston Villa have been especially busy on the transfer front over the past week or so.

The Villans finished fourth in the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League, and they will need to strengthen to ensure they can handle the extra workload.

Villa has recently been turning over a lot of plates. They signed Tim Iroegbunam from the West Midlands club, who in turn signed Lewis Dobbin from Everton.

Additionally, the Villans and Juventus are currently negotiating over a cash-plus-player trade that would see Douglas Luiz come to Turin and two players travel the other way.

The other active Villa lead has just been updated by Fabrizio Romano, and it’s positive news for the claret-and-blue team.

Ian Maatsen will sign a deal with Aston Villa today.

Ian Maatsen, a defender for Chelsea, is the player in question; there has been a lot of conjecture about his joining Villa.

According to Romano, who posted on X, the Dutchman will sign a six-year deal with Villa Park today.

Prior to this, Romano claimed that Villa would pay Maatsen approximately £37.5 million.
Ian Maatsen, the Aston Villa target, who is he?

Maatsen is a 22-year-old defender who plays both left back and further up the left wing for Chelsea.

Although he joined Chelsea as a junior player in 2018, the left-footed Dutchman has only made 16 professional appearances for the Blues.

At Signal Iduna Park, he was a success, leading the Bundesliga team to the Champions League final.

As said by former Sky Blues colleague Simon Moore in 2021, “It says a lot about how good he is that even a slightly off day stands out as exceptional,” according to the Bundesliga website.

It’s not typical. The young person is intelligent, incredibly gifted, eager to learn, and persistent.
