Aston Villa open to selling ‘brilliant’ player for around £11m

Over the past week or so, Aston Villa has been quite active in the transfer market.

In order to go to the Champions League, the Villans have to place fourth in the Premier League; therefore, they will need to bolster their roster to make sure they can manage the extra pressure.

Villa has been turning over a lot of plates lately. They signed Tim Iroegbunam from the West Midlands club, who in turn signed Lewis Dobbin from Everton.

In addition, the Villans and Juventus are negotiating a cash-plus-player deal that would send Douglas Luiz to Turin. Ian Maatsen is also rumoured to be close to joining Villa.

Recently, information about a player who wishes to leave the Villans and their desired profit margin from his possible sale has surfaced..

Alex Moreno is the player in question, and if Villa wants to sell him, they want to get as close to €13 million (£11 million) as possible, according to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo.

Real Betis, who are eager to sign the full-back again, are said to be interested in having Moreno return.

According to the source, Betis still wants a left-back because Juan Miranda is expected to go, even if they have already sealed a contract for Romain Perraud.

Estadio reports that Moreno is on their shortlist, citing the player’s recent sighting with Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo at a Seville airport.

Although the club suggested that it was a coincidence, Estadio claim Moreno still has a great relationship with the Spanish club, and they’d like to have him back if they can.

And with Villa set to sign Maatsen, they would have three players in that position, suggesting Moreno could be allowed to leave.

However, a valuation of £11million would be too steep for Betis at this moment in time.

Moreno faces uncertain future at Villa

Top talent Alex Moreno has made frequent appearances for Villa while healthy and has made significant contributions to the cause.

After he contributed to Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw with West Ham in March 2023, Ian Wright once called him “brilliant” (Premier League Productions, 12/3/23, 3:00 pm).

But it appears like Maatsen’s arrival is almost definite, therefore Moreno’s future at Villa may now be in doubt.

Even though Moreno is eager to return to Seville, the fact that Betis cannot afford his valuation could make matters more difficult.
