Analyst: Son Heung-min’s contract with Tottenham will be extended.

When questioned about Son’s future and the contract provision, Alan Hutton said he was certain Spurs will extend Son’s contract.

Son Heung-min’s contract has a one-year option that Tottenham Hotspur is about to exercise, according to former Spurs right-back Alan Hutton.

The present agreement between Tottenham and Son Heung-min expires in 2025, although the club has the option to extend it by one more year. Even though Son has been connected to leaving North London, including a reported big-money approach from Al-Ittihad in the event that they are unable to sign Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Son has categorically denied that he has any plans to leave the Premier League at this point in his career.

A few weeks ago, TEAMtalk speculated that Son may be the aim of Al-Ittihad should they be unable to sign Salah. Son, however, denied these reports and reaffirmed his loyalty to the Premier League.

The Athletic has been reporting for the past few months that Tottenham intends to start talks for a new long-term contract once Son’s contract extension expires in 2026.

Alan Hutton said he was confident with Tottenham’s choice to keep Son on for another season. Hutton responded to Football Insider’s query on Son’s future and the contract clause by saying:

“I believe the organization included the clause in his contract as a safety measure. They are going to pursue that option. It is, in fact, 100% real.

He’s crucial to the Spurs. That will buy him two more seasons, and Tottenham will be able to negotiate a transfer cost that they feel fairly compensates him if any offers come in during that time.

Spurs are planning to extend Son Heung-min’s deal.
Hutton highlighted Son’s value to the group, pointing out that he can play left flank or striker. “We don’t know what Tottenham will do with the forward position,” he continued. I’m not sure if the rumors that associate them with Toney are accurate. We require choices. However, Son is the captain, and it makes no sense for anyone to let him finish out his term.

For Tottenham, it makes strategic sense to extend Son’s contract. The club fortifies their position in discussions for a longer-term deal and secures his services for an extra year by exercising the provision. Son’s leadership responsibilities and value to the squad make it imperative to lock him down to a new deal in order to preserve stability and competitiveness.

Before the new season begins, Tottenham is anticipated to negotiate a new three- or four-year contract in addition to extending Son’s current one. By making this decision, the team would be able to hold onto one of its most important and vital players, enhancing its options for offense and leadership on the field.
