Man United Jarrad Branthwaite transfer swap deal latest as Everton confirm stance on Beto exit

Manchester United will be unable to sell defensive combination Victor Lindelöf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Everton in order to push a move for Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Blues are after Iliman Ndiaye, but are not currently negotiating with Fenerbahce for Beto.

Everton aim to keep Branthwaite for next season unless a huge offer comes in. Manchester United’s initial bid of £35 million plus add-ons was rejected as unacceptable, but Everton remains optimistic. Despite Old Trafford chiefs’ claims that they will not be ‘held to ransom’ over the 21-year-old England international, who only signed a new contract at Goodison Park last autumn that runs until 2027, and that they have other options, they remain interested and have not turned their attention elsewhere.

For their part, the Blues insist they will not be coerced into selling Branthwaite cheaply, dismissing reports of a Goodison Park ‘fire sale’ this summer. Given the £80 million fee United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019, the £75 million Chelsea paid for Wesley Fofana in 2022, and the £77 million Manchester City paid for Josko Gvardiol in 2023, Everton considers their breakout star of last season to be in the same league, especially given the premium for both left-footed defenders and homegrown talent.
