Leeds United badge choice catches the eye on announcement ahead of new kit release

Some Leeds United fans are wondering if the team’s 1970s old badge—which was utilised in a social media graphic this morning—is a reference to the next uniform.

Up until it is revealed or leaked, there will be speculation around Leeds United’s new uniform. Following a recent news item, there are even rumours floating about a modification to the badge.

In virtual worlds, that kind of kindling doesn’t require much of a spark to ignite. The article from The Athletic stated the club’s renowned ‘smiley’ emblem of the 1970s had been considered for the future 2024/25 outfits.

A slither of that old emblem on this morning’s fixture announcement from the club has set tongues wagging. Some supporters on X have posed the idea this is a precursor to what may be to come with the kits.

@leemhutchinson said: “Throw the shield in the bin and make this the official badge.” @CaptainCalves_ said: “New possible badge top left?”

@MikeCaulfield_ said: “Smiley badge prominent.” @BamfordTheCheat said: “Everybody notice the smiley badge in the top left corner? That is going on the kit. You wait and see.”

LeedsLive is aware that this allusion to the beloved song from the 1970s is not a preview of the upcoming uniforms. It’s just a decision the club’s PR staff made based on design. Over the course of the previous year, numerous outdated badges have been incorporated into artwork.

The new kit’s release date at Leeds has not yet been announced. Mid-July has demonstrated itself as the trend for the introduction in recent years under Adidas.
