Hart loved working with Brendan Rodgers – ‘He understood me’

Joe Hart, who holds the boss in the highest esteem, retired as a champion after helping Celtic defeat Rangers at Hampden in May to win the 2023–24 Scottish Cup.

During his illustrious career, the now-retired veteran custodian served under many well-known coaches, including Brendan Rodgers and former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Englishman won seven winner’s medals overall under both, with the most recent one coming during the 2023–24 season when he assisted Rodgers’ team in winning a customary league and cup double.

In an exclusive interview with Celtic View magazine, Hart spoke highly of Rodgers after playing for the entire season under the Irishman.

It’s been a pleasure working with him, he remarked. Playing against his teams over the years, I’ve known him professionally, and he’s always been quite affable.

“In my opinion, he has excelled both as a manager and a coach. Playing under him has been enjoyable, and he truly understood me.”

Hart has made an impression as a pundit for Euro 2024 since hanging up his gloves at the end of the previous campaign. He has frequently praised Scottish football for his perceptive analysis.

Hart, who also examined these topics with the Celtic View, frequently discussed the expectations and standards this team sets both on and off the pitch while he was a player for the Celtics.

“We worked hard in training, competing against each other,” the 37-year-old stated.

“That’s why it felt like we weren’t making a step up when it came to games, because we competed so heavily against each other.”

The most recent edition of the Celtic View, which is accessible online at the aforementioned URL and in-person at all Celtic stores, contains a complete transcription of Hart’s interview.
