For the goal, Aston Villa quoted £53 million. According to Kieran Tierney, “world-class”

Aston Villa is actively seeking to acquire new players and let go of a number of existing ones, so they are keeping busy in the transfer market.

For example, the Villans have already finalized the transfer of Lewis Dobbin, which included the Everton acquisition of Tim Iroegbunam, a midfielder.

It is also expected that Villa will shortly finalize the agreement for Douglas Luiz to join Juventus. In return, the Villans will receive two players and cash.

In an effort to assemble a team worthy of the Champions League, Villa is still in contact with other players even while multiple substantive talks are underway.

Now, a “world-class” midfield player from Spain is being connected to the Villans; but, he is reportedly being watched by “half of Europe” and won’t be cheap.

Brais Mendez will cost £53 million, according to Aston Villa.

Brais Mendez, a midfielder for Real Sociedad and Spain, is the man in issue, and AS claims the Villans are targeting him.

In addition to Villa, other teams interested in the 27-year-old include Roma, Juventus, and Napoli. It is reported that the player has a release clause of €60 million (£53 million).

The report, however, asserts that Sociedad will merely activate Mendez’s release clause and is unwilling to bargain over the latter’s price.

The athlete is also reported to be content at the team since he feels valued there. He doesn’t think it’s necessary to switch scenes in light of that, the article continued.

Who is Mendez, the Aston Villa target?

27-year-old midfielder Brais Mendez plays for Real Sociedad and is a member of Spain’s national team.

The six-foot-tall player joined Sociedad in July 2022 for an alleged €14 million (£12 million) deal after rising through the ranks at Celta Vigo.

Mendez has made 91 club appearances, scoring 19 goals and dishing out 17 assists. In addition, he has four caps for La Roja and one goal.

While on loan at Sociedad the previous season, Kieran Tierney mentioned the rumored Villa target as one of the team’s many “world-class” players.

He was quoted by the Irish Examiner as saying, “You have world-class players like Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, and Brais Mendez.”

“It’s difficult to know if you only watch the Premier League every week; it’s not that people don’t think they’re good. They are of the highest caliber.

In 2019, Quique de Lucas, a former player for Celta, stated to Sky Sports, “He’s a very intelligent and classy Spanish player.”

Although he is capable of playing in all offensive positions, his performance on the right side stood out.

“He likes to get involved in midfield and is hard to track and defend against because he is a left-footer on the right.”
