“Done”: a five-year contract and a £50 million transfer decision were reached following negotiations with Newcastle United.

Michael Olise, a winger for Crystal Palace, is expected to pay £50 million to join Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern, Chelsea, and Newcastle United expressed interest in the 22-year-old after he scored 10 goals in 19 games during the 2023–24 season. Earlier this month, authorization was granted to all three teams to speak with the player’s representation.

Olise has chosen to join Bayern Munich over staying in the Premier League, despite Chelsea having previously agreed to personal terms with him last summer and seeking to do so again this transfer window.

Bayern is expected to pay Palace £45 million for the winger, who has accepted personal terms on a five-year contract, plus an additional £5 million.

The Telegraph claims that Olise prefers Bayern Munich to Chelsea or Newcastle because of the allure of Champions League play. While Newcastle participated in the Champions League the previous season, they were unable to advance to Europe, while Bayern routinely make it to the continent’s top club championship.

Chelsea has not made it into the Champions League in either of the last two seasons, despite winning the competition in 2021.

London-born Olise is still eligible to play for the national teams of France, England, Nigeria, and Algeria because he hasn’t made his senior international debut. Olise has represented France at the Under-18 and Under-21 levels.

Before making his senior debut at Reading and going on to Crystal Palace in 2021, Olise was a Chelsea academy player. Olise had his finest scoring season to date with Palace, scoring more than ten goals despite a season marred by injuries.

With 16 goals in 90 appearances for the South London team, he is leaving Selhurst Park.
