£17m Premier League transfer imminent as medical confirmed after Newcastle United U-turn

Everton are set to sign a winger after talks with Newcastle United and Yankuba Minteh stalled.

Marseille winger Iliman Ndiaye is undergoing a medical at Everton after a deal totalling around £17million was agreed with the winger. Ndiaye previously shone for Sheffield United in the Championship before making the move to Ligue 1. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ndiaye has agreed a five-year deal at Everton.

“Iliman Ndiaye, currently on Merseyside undergoing medical tests as a new Everton player,” Romano tweeted on social media. Ndiaye inks a five-year contract with OM that expires in June 2029, with an additional €1.5 million.
This comes after negotiations to recruit Newcastle’s Yankuba Minteh, a winger, were held by Everton. The Toffees were in the driver’s seat to sign the 19-year-old, but negotiations broke down after Newcastle pulled out of talks to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a striker, as part of a double deal with their Premier League rivals. However, Minteh’s future may yet be affected by Everton’s acquisition of Ndiaye, since Marseille has been heavily linked to a bid for the winger.

A winger can now join Marseille’s roster as a result of Ndiaye’s departure, and rumors circulating in France say that Minteh is eager to join the Ligue 1 team. The 19-year-old and Lyon have also held discussions on a possible trade.

Reluctantly, Newcastle wants to get rid of the winger before Sunday, June 30, the deadline set by the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
