Sunderland boss reacts as club announces major Stadium of Light plans for 2024-25

During the 2024–25 season, the Sunderland official disclosed updated plans for the Stadium of Light.

Alex Clark, a Sunderland icon, wants to draw in more viewers for Sunderland Women’s upcoming season.

The Black Cats have declared that Mel Reay’s squad will make a second trip to the Stadium of Light in 2024–25, with four scheduled games before the next season.
In a bid to better their third-place Championship finish from the previous year, when a club record 1,477 people attended the River Wear Derby in March, Sunderland will play their remaining games at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.

General manager of Sunderland Women Clark stated, “We are thrilled that we will be hosting games at the Stadium of Light, especially with the evolution of the women’s game and the current developments to the ground.” It gives our players thrilling possibilities and strengthens our relationship with the city.

As we get ready for the 2024–25 season, he added, “We are also grateful to still have the current relationship with Hetton Town Trust and look forward to welcoming existing and new fans back for the new campaign.”
