Former Raiders player Chandler Jones dodges jail time in domestic violence case

LAS VEGAS: Chandler Jones, a former Raiders player, was charged with two counts of domestic abuse last autumn, but he may not go to jail. According to documents from the Las Vegas Justice Court, Jones was given a suspended 90-day jail term on June 17. As long as he keeps out of trouble and doesn’t communicate with his victim—aside from what Family Court orders—he will be able to avoid going to jail.

Before getting his interim term, Jones filed a nolo contendere plea, or a no contest plea, that resulted in one his domestic violence counts being dismissed, court documents snow. Jones’ accusations were in connection to his arrest in September after the Metropolitan Police Department alleged he violated a temporary protective order from the mother of his son. Jones grabbed items from the woman’s property, including a recycling bin, a pool net, and dog toys, according to an arrest report from the police. Jones then burnt the items while in her undies.

Following the incident, Jones was released by the Raiders; however, due to a series of unsettling social media posts, he had not participated in a single game this previous season. According to police booking logs, Jones was arrested again on October 17 for violating the domestic violence temporary protection order.
