Newcastle United complete Premier League swoop after Leeds United & Wolves appearances

Newcastle United have handed a contract to Aaron Epia following his release from Premier League counterparts Everton.

The 16-year-old, who has made appearances as a substitute in under-18 games against Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, was recently on trial at Newcastle.

And The Secret Scout claims it was sufficient to secure the defender a youth contract. “Left-sided center back Aaron Apia, born in 2008, has signed a contract with Newcastle United after departing Everton,” the statement stated. Apia, 16, has played for the Polish national team. He can also stand in for Nigeria and England as Newcastle’s youth project develops.

Since CJ Afumuzor from Portsmouth arrived this summer, the Magpies have already strengthened their young ranks. After the 14-year-old was registered with them for eight years, the South Coast club is eligible to receive a transfer fee.

In the meantime, United is getting closer to acquiring Blackburn Rovers’ Rory Finneran. The Republic of Ireland under-17 international made his senior debut in an FA Cup match against Cambridge United one month after being placed on the bench for Blackburn’s Championship match against Bristol City in December.

Finneran, who is 15 years, 10 months, and 8 days old, is the youngest Rovers debutant ever. Numerous teams, including some in Germany, have expressed interest in signing him, but Newcastle is expected to prevail in the end, provided that a cost can be negotiated with the Lancashire team.

Alex Murphy, Reece Byrne, and Cathal Heffernan are just a few of the many Irish players who have joined Newcastle’s academy in the last two years.
