Report: Aston Villa reaches out to sign a £52 million playmaker who scored 17 goals in the previous campaign.

The Villans are reportedly interested in a highly regarded playmaker from La Liga.

This summer, Aston Villa has been among the teams most active in the transfer market, with many transactions expected to close.

Douglas Luiz is set to sign a contract with Juventus, while Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior will be traded to Villa Park.

While fellow young star Tim Iroegbunam has permanently joined Everton, Omari Kellyman has nearly finished his transfer to Chelsea.

It appears that the team is now keen to get a creative midfielder into the fold.

Aston Villa make contact to sign Brais Mendez

Aston Villa has reportedly contacted Real Sociedad playmaker Brais Mendez about signing him, according to the Daily Express.

For the La Liga team last season, the 27-year-old scored eight goals and provided nine assists, bringing his total goal involvement to an astonishing 17.

The Villans have gotten in touch with his agents to find out whether he would consider moving to the West Midlands.

It won’t be an easy deal to make because Sociedad has him under contract until 2028 and, according to Football Today, he has a £52 million release clause.

Aston Villa face competition

Juventus, Manchester United, and Roma are all rumoured to be interested in signing him, so Aston Villa will have fierce competition for his signature.

Hopefully, Emery’s countryman chooses to practise at Villa Park, where Pau Torres, a former La Liga player, is presently thriving.

Despite making four appearances for the Spanish national team, the left-footed playmaker has not been chosen since 2021.

Because of this, he isn’t in Germany for the European Championships, which facilitates much easier discussions between all sides.
