Inter Name Excessive Price Tag for Calhanoglu Associated with Bayern Munich

As the Germans chase Hakan Calhanoglu, Serie A winners Inter are ready to give Bayern Munich a “taste of their own medicine.” Calciomercato reports that in an attempt to stave off the Bavarian superpower, the Nerazzurri have placed a hefty €60 million price tag on the head of the Turkey international.

Earlier this week, a number of media publications revealed that Calhanoglu and Bayern Munich were holding secret talks. Inter rejected the Bundesliga team’s initial €40 million offer for the 30-year-old yesterday. It hasn’t stopped Vincent Kompany’s team from putting together a fresh bid, though.

Anything less than €60m will not be enough to price the ex-Milan playmaker out of Inter. Last summer, the Italians had to pay a premium price to lure Benjamin Pavard to Giuseppe Meazza. Despite having less than a year left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, Bayern Munich made Inter pay €30m for the Frenchman.

Beppe Marotta, the president of Inter, doesn’t seem to have forgotten that one. After just a year, he’s ready to exact revenge on the Germans for what they did to him the previous year. The 20-time Serie A champions are adamant about how much they are willing to pay Calhanoglu, whose Lombardia contract expires in 2027.

If the Turk tries to force his way out, Inter will try to extract every last pound from Bayern Munich since they know they are in a strong position. The ideal situation for Simone Inzaghi would be to hang onto his star midfield player, who had a stellar 2023–2024 season and won Serie A Player of the Season.
