Everton want £37m for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton will demand a fee in the region of £37 million for Dominic Calvert-Lewin if he leaves the club, as per Paul Joyce.

Writing for The Times (22 June), Joyce says that the Toffees have offered a new deal to the 27-year-old who has only a year left on his current deal.

Newcastle United are looking to sign Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window and they are desperate to secure his contract, possibly within the end of this month.

Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to sign a new deal at Goodison Park, and Everton are not looking to sell cheaply.

The Magpies are pushing for a deal to sign the England striker, and they have been long-term fans of Calvert-Lewin. They are expected to offload Callum Wilson to free up the space and wages for Calvert-Lewin’s arrival.

Terrific business if Everton can get it right

Everton are looking to offload a few players to comply with the Premier League’s financial rules. They have sold Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa, while the futures of Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana are in doubt.

Calvert-Lewin struggled with injuries in recent years, but he has shown his ability when fit. Last season, he scored eight goals in 38 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side.

Having said that, if the Toffees can get anywhere near the fee mentioned above for an injury-prone player, it would represent a terrific piece of business.

Everton have signed Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa on a three-year deal, while they are close to getting Jack Harrison from Leeds United on loan yet again.

The Toffees are also in talks with Newcastle to sign talented winger Yankuba Minteh who has already agreed personal terms with an unnamed team.

If Calvert-Lewin leaves the club for over £35 million, the Toffees will be under no pressure to sell Branthwaite or Onana.
