The Steve Cooper favourite who would be the ideal addition to Leicester City

Now that they have a manager, Leicester City should focus on growing their playing roster and take a closer look at this Tottenham exile.

After an extensive hiring process that lasted more than two weeks, Steve Cooper was appointed as Leicester City’s new manager after Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea.

There has been a mixed response to the news. Cooper’s last few months as a Premier League manager were marked by gloomy football and an incapacity to make the proper selectoral decisions. Some won’t be happy that they went after Nottingham Forest, their rivals.

The fact that he was a really outstanding player for the most of his tenure at the City Ground has been overshadowed by his Reds collapse. He led Forest to the play-offs and Wembley triumph, not content to just drag them out of the Championship bottom.

“Happy for Steve. “Getting another Premier League job after losing your first one is not easy,” he said to Sky Sports. “People want these positions. He will be thrilled to have the chance to work with 20 managers from throughout Europe and the globe. Some of the best managers in football are interested in visiting the Premier League.”

Cooper enters the King Power Stadium with a major task at hand – ensure Premier League survival. Of course this is the case for any newly-promoted side, though Leicester could be fighting this battle on the back foot with threat of a points deduction from the get-go.

There are also questions as to how much the new manager will be allowed to spend to prepare a squad capable of competing at the top level. So, as well as building a relationship with the club’s board, it is Carragher’s belief that his connection with supporters will be a key determining factor in the season ahead.
