BIG-MONEY BAYERN MUNICH SWITCH NEAR THE TOP SUMMER TARGET IN BARCELONA

A key player on La Liga powerhouse Barcelona’s transfer wish list is slowly making his way to one of the best teams on the continent.

Florian Plettenberg, a German football insider, claims that Xavi Simons is the player in question.

Naturally, the name of adaptable attacker Simons has been prominently featured in the news in Catalunya’s capital for some time now.

This follows reports that Deco and the Camp Nou management had the Dutchman marked as a top target to bolster Hansi Flick’s squad upon his arrival.

Amid Barca’s long-standing financial woes, it was even suggested that a loan deal could be on the cards, with Paris Saint-Germain.

As previously mentioned, though, the Blaugrana now seem to be trailing in the Simons sweepstakes if the most recent information released by the media on Friday is any indication.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich is growing more optimistic about signing the 21-year-old.

The Bayern board has commenced formal negotiations regarding an initial financial arrangement that includes a buyout liability of between €60 and €70 million.

Although RB Leipzig is still in the running for the contract, it is becoming more and more probable that Simons will make the Allianz Arena his new home when the new campaign begins.
