Atletico Madrid star,Axel Witsel suffers Euro 2024 injury setback.

 

A experienced member of Atlético Madrid’s first-team has suffered a further setback in terms of fitness this week.

The player in question? Axel Witsel.

Witsel, a defender and midfielder, is currently on international service with the Belgian side for Euro 2024.

The 35-year-old, however, did not feature in the Red Devils’ opening group stage game against Slovakia due to an adductor injury sustained in the buildup to the event.

Witsel’s absence was noticed as the Belgians suffered an ominous 1-0 setback in Frankfurt.

Recent days have seen it stated that the former Borussia Dortmund man has taken strides forward in his recovery, and therefore likely to be available for selection when his side returns to action against Romania.
