Tottenham to demand £80million for Cristian Romero amid Real Madrid interest

Bryan King believes that in light of Real Madrid’s interest, Tottenham would demand £80 million to trade Cristian Romero, the centre back.

The World Cup champion is a “outstanding” member of Ange Postecoglou’s team in North London, according to the former Spurs scout.

Spurs have no intention of letting Romero leave the team, as reported by Football London on June 19, despite rumours that he is in talks to join Real Madrid.

King, who is exclusively talking to Toronto News, believes that the 26-year-old does have a price, though.

The fact that Spurs have players drawing interest from teams like Real Madrid can only be advantageous for them, King stated.

“Romero speaks the language and is a World Cup winner, but he will be expensive.”

“Tottenham will want to get at least £80 million for him; that’s more than they paid for him.”

“The ball is in their court because Romero is under contract and has been excellent for the club.”

Tottenham must do everything in their power to keep hold of Cristian Romero

At the moment there is no indication that Madrid have followed up on their interest in Romero.

Tottenham won’t want to lose the defender ahead of Postecoglou’s second season in charge, with Romero set to be a key player once once more in the 2024–2025 campaign.

But, it may be challenging to hold onto the centre back if Madrid were to increase their interest.

Fortunately for Daniel Levy, Tottenham holds all the sway because Romero is contracted with them until 2027.

They would have the right to ask for a high price, and the £80 million would probably just serve as the opening offer in any negotiations.

In other Tottenham news, a claim involving Rodrigo Muniz has surfaced following the club’s association with the striker.
