Newcastle United ‘open’ possible swap deal with Arsenal as Gunners look to bring down £100m demand

Teams in the Premier League and throughout Europe are interested in Newcastle United’s Brazilian midfield player.

Arsenal apparently became dissatisfied with the negotiations for Martin Zubimendi and rekindled their interest in Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United.

After monitoring Zubimendi closely for more than a year, Mikel Arteta’s team appeared to have made headway heading into the summer transfer window, when the midfielder’s camp received a contract proposal. Real Sociedad will need to trigger a release clause of approximately £52 million in order to sell, but that amount is generally seen as fair.

However, it has been stated that Arsenal has not received a response from Zubimendi’s team and is becoming impatient. Arteta is eager to move the deal along swiftly so he can get ready for another Premier League title push. Football Transfers claims that Guimaraes has resurfaced as a possible possibility, suggesting that the Gunners were compelled to explore elsewhere as a result of their frustration.

Given that Guimaraes has a £100 million release clause at Newcastle, a transfer for the Brazilian is likely to cost twice as much as one for Zubimendi. However, the article also states that, keeping an eye on profitability and sustainability regulations, the Magpies “might be open” to bargaining on that amount if it is not reached elsewhere (PSR).

Chief executive Darren Eales has maintained earlier this year that player trading—both in and out—is essential for Newcastle to grow as a team, therefore the team has long been predicted to lose a significant player this summer. The management at St. James’ Park won’t immediately rule out a move if it could benefit them financially in the long run, even if there isn’t a pressing need to generate money, unlike what is believed to be the case at places like Leicester City and Everton.

“Depending on the situation, it can affect any player at any time. When asked about the possibility of selling Guimaraes or Alexander Isak, Eales responded, “It’s hard to hypothesise but, if we’re offered £1bn for one of those players, then no-one could argue against that making sense.” “Trading that player can make sense if for some reason—the player’s contract is expiring, the offer is too good to pass up, or you need to reload in other areas.

Because of the boundaries, it is counterintuitive and a feature of PSR‘s core structure that trading your players is encouraged if you wish to reinvest. We shall always consider the medium- to long-term benefits to the club while making decisions. Though it’s hard to comment on individual players, I can state that trading players is occasionally required if we’re going to reach our goals.

Arsenal is rumored to be considering a player-plus-cash deal for Guimaraes; however, these transactions are notoriously difficult to close because there are so many parties involved, including players and their agents. It’s unclear how far the North London club would go in their pursuit of the midfield player or if Zubimendi will accept their offer in the end.
