July 1 recovery plan lined up for Leeds United star who hasn’t kicked a ball in 2024 – Report

Leeds United have sorely missed the involvement of Pascal Struijk in 2024, as they ended up missing out on promotion while the defence suffered late in the regular season.

Alongside Ethan Ampadu, Pascal Struijk was possibly Leeds’ most reliable performer throughout the first part of the 23/24 Championship season.

But around Christmas time, he started having hip problems. He scored in the loss against Preston, but missed the last game of 2023 and was out for the remainder of the season.

Pascal Struijk set for July 1 return at Leeds pre-season

Naturally, Struijk hasn’t been able to play for around six months after having to have surgery in March since his hip problem hasn’t improved as Daniel Farke and the medical team had hoped.

For the Dutch defender to establish himself as a surefire starter under the German manager, the preseason may be crucial.

The dates of each player’s return to pre-season have been revealed by The Yorkshire Evening Post. Struijk hopes to be fully recovered and back in training by the first day of the season, which is July 1:

“Struijk has been recovering and rehabilitating for the whole year 2024 from a problematic groyne injury that finally necessitated surgery.”.

“He’ll be as eager as any to get back into the swing of things right at the start of Farke’s pre-season schedule.”

Will Leeds get promoted next season?

For a number of reasons in the lineup, Leeds was excellent in the first several months without Struijk—not because Ethan Ampadu took his position.

What is certain is that with Struijk in place, our form slump following the March international break would have been much mitigated.

Our top defender, he might be crucial to Farke’s strategy for assembling a championship-winning team if he returns for the entire preseason schedule.
