West Ham told they can have a new king of Lyon after clever Tim Steidten call

West Ham United have been told they can have a new king of Lyon after a very clever Tim Steidten call for a top young star.

It goes without saying that you will need to make adjustments when you take over a team that has given up the most goals in Premier League history.

Julien Lopetegui has arrived at West Ham, a team that conceded an incredible 74 goals in the Premier League the previous season.

Compared to David Moyes, the Spanish manager is more of an attacker.

The club’s initial acquisition of Luis Guilherme, a teenage boy from Brazil, is proof of that.

However, Lopetegui, who was a custodian in the past, makes sure his teams start strong defensively.

The 57-year-old manager of West Ham has already formed opinions about a number of defensive players.

He gave the green light to a new one-year deal for Aaron Cresswell – who he tried to sign while Wolves boss.

Angelo Ogbonna has not been retained and Lopetegui has decided he wants to sell captain Kurt Zouma too.

In addition, Nayef Aguerd want to leave the London Stadium and is up for sale.

With Thilo Kehrer having finished his permanent relocation to Monaco, that would leave just Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Therefore, it seems sense that West Ham is looking to add at least two new centre backs to their roster this summer.

The decision to sell captain Kurt Zouma was made by Lopetegui, who also chose not to keep Angelo Ogbonna.

In addition to being for sale, Nayef Aguerd want to leave the London Stadium.

Considering that Thilo Kehrer has completed a permanent move to Monaco, that would leave only Konstantinos Mavropanos.

In light of this, it makes sense that West Ham is looking to add at least two new centre backs this summer.

West Ham told they can have a new king of Lyon

That being to use the fact Lyon now owe West Ham £12.5m to negotiate a deal for their brilliant young Irish centre-half Jake O’Brien.

Journalist Alan Nixon asserted that O’Brien, 23, might find it impossible to pass up the opportunity to join Hammers and make his Premier League debut.

A development has occurred, and it appears to be favourable for the Hammers.

Following the astute Steidten call, West Ham has been granted the right to have a new king of Lyon.

If West Ham is being completely honest with themselves, Craig Dawson, their King of Lyon, has never been replaced.

For family reasons, he left in January of last year to join Lopetegui at Wolves. And ever since, West Ham’s defence hasn’t looked the same.

However, they could now actually have a new king of Lyon..

Lyon preparing to sell Hammers target O’Brien

The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal has claimed that Lyon are now preparing to listen offers for O’Brien.

“Lyon are preparing to listen to offers for central defender Jake O’Brien,” the report states.

The Republic of Ireland international is well-known to clubs in the Premier League and other parts of Europe, but Lyon, a French team, is unwilling to sell and has not established an asking price.

Here’s where West Ham can truly take advantage of the Benrahma predicament.

Lyons operate within limited financial resources and exercise restraint in their expenditures.

The Hammers might be able to work out an arrangement where Lyon is not required to provide Lyon the £12.3 million in exchange for Benrahma.

Alternatively, West Ham can use that to negotiate a fair price for O’Brien, who you can watch the video below to learn more about.
