Newcastle making progress with important agreement which would be a big blow to Arsenal and Chelsea

HITC understands that Newcastle United are progressing in contract talks for one key star this summer amid links to other Premier League clubs.

When Newcastle United finished in fourth place in the Premier League the previous season, Eddie Howe’s team didn’t quite reach the same heights within the organization.

However, the squad struggled greatly the previous season due to the team’s widespread injury crisis, finishing in eighth place.

This would have been sufficient for Conference League playing for the Magpies the following season; but, due to Manchester United’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City, Newcastle will not play in Europe.

Newcastle closing in on key contract extension

HITC is aware that negotiations on a new contract for Alexander Isak at Newcastle are moving forward, even if European football may provide a challenge this summer.

Enormous assets like Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, and Anthony Gordon are what Newcastle is desperate to keep this summer.

As we previously reported, there is apprehension among those at St James’ Park regarding the possibility that Guimaraes’ £100 million release clause would be activated this summer due to interest from Pep Guardiola’s City.

While Isak does not have a release clause in his contract—and he is also entitled to a new one following his outstanding season last term—Guimaraes does, and Newcastle cannot stop it if it is activated.

The Swedish attacker scored 21 Premier League goals for Newcastle in the previous season. Isak was bought by the Geordie team for £60 million from Real Sociedad, according to the BBC.

Newcastle aim to get Isak deal done before start of the season

As per our information, negotiations for a new contract between Newcastle and the former Sociedad attacker are now moving forward, as previously reported by HITC.

The club’s goal is to have Isak committed to a new long-term deal by the time the August Premier League season begins.

Isak isn’t one of Newcastle’s most paid players right now, but according to the new agreement, he will be at St. James’ Park’s highest paid player.

Isak, 24, was reportedly interested by both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, but Newcastle made it plain that the Swedish forward was not available and that the club would not even consider making an approach.

Isak appears destined to become another striker lost to both teams; they have already lost out on striker Benjamin Sesko, who chose to stay at RB Leipzig.
