In the competition for a £18 million Mourinho favourite, Brighton and Chelsea lead Fulham and Leicester.

Edoardo Bove, a young player valued at £18 million, is coveted by Leicester City and Fulham, although rival Premier League teams Everton and AFC Bournemouth are farther along in their own pursuit.

On Tuesday, HITC revealed that Everton and Aston Villa were getting closer to a £10 million agreement for Tim Iroegbunam.

The elegant, collected central midfield player is eager to join Goodison Park after learning from Unai Emery that he would probably be far down the team’s priority list in 2024–2025, especially when Ross Barkley completes his Villa Park comeback from Luton Town.

Everton’s summertime wagers are largely focused on youth and promise, as evidenced by their interest in a 20-year-old who played just one Premier League game for Villa last season.

Edoardo Bove would fall into this bracket too, at only 22.

Everton and Bournemouth lead Edoardo Bove race

Bove, an Italy Under 21 international and alumnus of the Roma academy, is valued at approximately £18 million this summer. The famous Giallorossi skipper and current head coach Daniele de Rossi served as an inspiration for Bove. Fulham, Brentford, and Leicester City are among his supporters.

HITC is aware, however, that Everton and AFC Bournemouth are currently the teams at the top of the waiting list. Both teams are pursuing the all-action enforcer with greater “advancement.”

But with Thiago Pinto, Bournemouth might feel like they have an advantage.Bove is well-known to the Cherries’ recently hired President of Football Operations from their time spent together in the Italian city.

Bove, who shares De Rossi’s aggression and tenacity as well as his technical qualities, made his name under the legendary Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico. Mourinho hailed his nous and maturity, feeling that Bove was playing like a man ten years his senior.

“After Roma’s 2-0 Europa League loss to Slavia Prague, two years ago, a 21-year-old kid who wasn’t even in the first team was the only one I really liked – because he gave everything technically, tactically, and mentally,” Mourinho praised Bove in 2023.

One of our players used his body, brains, and legs to play. Just one. Bove was the lone player who didn’t deserve to lose.

Legendary Roma player Francesco Totti added, “It’s very emotional seeing him (start in midfield)”. Bove gained the respect of two of the greatest football players of the contemporary era.

Leicester and Fulham also in the race

In 2023–2024, Bove made 45 appearances, including 31 of those in Serie A. Along with fellow rookie Iroegbunam, Bove is an athletic and aggressive midfielder who might infuse some youthful energy and speed into an ageing Everton midfield.

Idrissa Gana Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure are both past thirty, and Amadou Onana’s future is still very much up in the air.Links have also been made with Kalvin Phillips, a misfit for Manchester City.

Everton wants both Bove and Iroegbunam, not just one of them, HITC has been informed.

But the Tiago Pinto factor might give Bournemouth a significant edge over the battle for one of Serie A’s rising stars.

Pinto remarked, “Edoardo embodies the principles that we would always like to convey to the boys of our youth academy,” following Bove’s December signing of a deal that would keep him signed through 2028. “Because he wears the Roma shirt in every aspect of his life, both on and off the pitch, with a sense of pride and accountability.”

In addition to his technical abilities, he has consistently demonstrated a sacrifice mentality and loyalty to the team. His kind of player is what keeps Roma in the future.
