In the Aston Villa transaction, Weston McKennie might be “replaced by someone else.”

The American could be “replaced by someone else” if Juventus decides against using Weston McKennie in the Douglas Luiz trade with Aston Villa.

Bianconera News reports that writer Luca Marchetti claims that McKennie is still the main impediment to the two teams’ trade agreement.
Juventus has been inching closer to a trade for Luiz over the last two weeks, working out a deal with Aston Villa whereby they will pay a set sum and acquire Weston McKennie and Samue Iling-Junior in exchange.

Despite its complexity, the deal has been moving slowly; Luiz is eager to transfer, while Iling-Junior has rapidly reached an agreement with Aston Villa.

The main problem has been McKennie, who has been reported in Italy to be demanding a payoff from Juventus because his contract is about to expire soon

This morning there were also claims that he wants a pay rise.

That’s been holding up matters, with his entourage coming in for criticism for their behaviour and the demands that they’ve been making as part of the process.

Marchetti expands on that today, speculating that Aston Villa and Juventus may alter their plans and substitute a new player for the original one.

“The requests from McKennie’s entourage represent the obstacle to overcome to date,” he stated.

Therefore, either a deal is struck or the American needs to be replaced, though I see the second scenario to be more improbable.

“In a negotiation involving numerous parties, it is typical for there to be some hiccups. This is because each player wants to maximise their income and make their importance known in the exchange.”
