David Martindale Makes Celtic Claim That People Will “Laugh at”
David Martindale has made a bold prediction about James Penrice that is likely to raise eyebrows among Celtic fans.
Martindale believes Penrice, who recently signed a three-year contract with Hearts, will eventually play for Celtic. Penrice, 25, has shown versatility on the pitch, playing as a left back, winger or defensive midfielder.
His strong achievements for Livingston won him a move to Hearts, where he will be able to compete in European events next season.
Martindale praised Penrice, saying the Hearts Standard, “I genuinely think Hearts have ‘won a watch’ with him.” This is me being really honest, and people may laugh at it.
But I can see James playing for the Rangers. I can imagine James playing for Celtics. That’s how highly I regard him. He can look after the ball. Hearts is a top-three team, thus he wouldn’t look out of place playing for any of the top three, in my opinion.
While Penrice’s move to Hearts is a major step up from Livingston, it remains to be seen how he will cope with the increased demands of a European-challenging team.
Before we make such bold predictions about his future, let him put his skills to the test at Hearts, who play an entirely different kind of football at the highest level and throughout Europe.
