Aston Villa and Bournemouth are “fighting” for a Sunderland player.

Trai Hume, a defender for Sunderland, is reportedly wanted by both Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old, who joined Sunderland from Linfield in January 2022, has made a name for himself as a vital member of the team.

Hume played more minutes last season than any of his colleagues, starting 45 of Sunderland’s 46 Championship games.

The Northern Ireland international has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027 with a one-year option to extend, having signed a fresh agreement last summer.

Hume is under contract with Sunderland for the foreseeable future, but this summer he might be given the chance to finalize a Premier League transfer.

Aston Villa and Bournemouth are thinking of moving Hume.
Aston Villa and Bournemouth are keeping an eye on Hume’s circumstances, reports Football Insider, having been impressed by his play the previous season.

According to the source, the two Premier League teams are debating whether to intensify their efforts at a later date during the summer transfer season.

Sunderland stands to gain a significant profit after paying £150,000 for Hume, as reports have it they may fetch up to £8 million for the right-back.

Unai Emery’s side may have the edge over the Cherries because they can offer Champions League football after achieving a fourth-place finish last season. However, the Villans may have to sell players before they pursue a move for Hume due to their concerns about staying within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules

Why are Aston Villa and Bournemouth chasing Hume?

the Villans will be keen to add strength in depth to his squad as they prepare to balance Champions League football with their domestic duties. There is also the possibility that their current first-choice right-back Matty Cash could be sold this summer, amid interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

As for Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola is looking to make further improvements to his squad after achieving a club-record Premier League points tally in his first season on the South Coast

Iraola is set to lose Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer and will want to bring in a new right-back to provide competition to Max Aarons and Adam Smith.
