With his current contract with the Nerazzurri set to expire in June of next year, the 28-year-old Dutch right wing back’s future is uncertain as the transfer market draws near. In recent weeks, he has been connected to moves to Manchester United and Aston Villa.

As they prepare for the 2024–25 campaign, Inter has already identified a number of key targets, including Emil Holm of Spezia and goalkeeper Josep Martinez of Genoa. It is likely that Valentin Carboni will be sold to finance their forthcoming market.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter’s negotiations to extend their contract with Dumfries have reached a deadlock and aren’t moving forward, thus the team has begun searching for potential successors.

The Nerazzurri have highlighted Dan Ndoye of Bologna and Matty Cash of Aston Villa, who has also drawn interest from Milan, as possible candidates.
